Seminar "Commodity markets’ transparency: effective information for efficient markets"
On May 28, 2013 the G20 expert outreach seminar "Commodity markets' transparency: effective information for efficient markets" was held in Geneva. The meeting brought together the G20 countries governments' officials, representatives of international organizations, as well as the largest market players from energy, commodity trading companies, banking and investment sectors.
At the seminar delegates discussed the relevance and potential of the Joint Organization Data Initiative (JODI) for future development, the level of transparency of price making, production, stocks, consumption and trade in various segments of commodity markets (energy, agriculture, metals), as well as the issue of data reporting and data comparability in physical and financial markets.
The delegates considered the scope for the G20 actions in these spheres.
